Ruston House

Ruston House is named after the diesel powered Ruston Engine which was put in as the principal power source in 1936. Completely overhauled in 1947 – having been “worn out” powering the Cook Houses for the Tank Battle School stationed here during the War – it was again re-lined and renewed in 1962, but only worked for two years before mains electricity was brought to the Farm in 1964. The original engine is still available to view in the Estate Shed.
