Lucam

Lucam is the architectural term for a covered first floor platform on a grain store, where an almighty hoisting pulley was positioned to lift sacks weighing a tenth of a ton. The first floor of both Lucam and Wheel House retain the original rafter timbers, as nothing today would match their quality for strength. The restored lucam now provides views across the marshes and out to sea.
